We’ll find solution to revenue sharing – Lusaka
Senate Speaker Kenneth Lusaka has said he is optimistic that a special sitting scheduled by Senators to discuss the County Revenue Sharing Formula will bear fruits and have operations at the devolved units resume.
Speaking in Kiminini constituency during the burial of Mrs Rosemary Khaemba on Wednesday, Lusaka said he had summoned the Senators for a meeting to chart the way forward in reaching an amicable solution where a win -win formula for all will be arrived at.
“You have all been witnessing some tough and hardline actions with honorable members at the senate bringing about a heated debate threatening to paralysis operations at counties. There should be no cause for alarm since a solution is in the offing,” he said .
The Speaker said the stalemate over the Division of Revenue should be brought to an end and allow counties adequately share .
He at the same time challenged County Governors not to misuse monies send to Counties by the National Treasury and warned that pilfrage would lead to some being prosecuted.
“Money released by the National Treasury need be prudently used for the benefit of Kenyans . Toigh action will be taken against those diverting the same to their private use,” he added.
Lusaka appealed to County Governments to prioritise procurement of medical equipment to help in the management and treatment of Cancer.
