Washiali attacks Jubilee Party, accuses Uhuru’s administration of not valuing Kenyans
Mumias East MP Benjamin Washiali has hit out at President Uhuru Kenyatta’s administration accusing the government of not valuing Kenyans.
Speaking at Nashianda area in Kakamega County, the MP accused the Jubilee administration of kicking him out of office as Chief Whip thus denying him a chance of enforcing the legislation of laws that would have benefited Kenyans.
“I had three bills in Parliament and one of them was aimed at making sure Kenyans live a comfortable life but since we did not pass the Political Parties (Amendment)(No.2)Bill, 2021, which was very important to them, we were kicked out of office and told us that our work is over,” Washiali said.
In December, Mps voted to approve formation of a Coalition Party in a late night vote that saw 155 legislators approve Clause 6 of the Political Parties (Amendment) Bill, 2021 sponsored by MP Amos Kimunya which seeks to establish a Coalition political party.
MP’s allied to Deputy President William Ruto including Washiali were defeated in an attempt by Kandara MP Alice Wahome to scrap the provision viewed as the key enabler of Azimio La Umoja coalition party led by Orange Democratic Movement party leader Raila Odinga.
“Today I would have been in Parliament spearheading the legislation of bills that would have made the lives of Kenyans comfortable. In that regard, if we tell this handshake government to go home, will you join us?” Washiali posed to the crowd.
Early this month, Washiali said that he will not contest in the upcoming General Election to retain his seat as an MP.
The MP thanked his Mumias East constituents for electing him to serve as their representative for 15 years stating that he is giving way for fresh leadership.
“It’s been an honour serving the People of Mumias East, with gratitude I appreciate that you placed your hope and aspirations in me for the last 15yrs, I have served diligently, I’m grateful for the development strides we’ve made.
“Therefore come August, I will not be running for office. It is with much humility that I therefore once again ask you people of Mumias East to come August, elect a leader who will not only better the best that we have achieved this far, but also be tenacious and zealous in their service delivery,” the MP said.
