The High court has issued an arrest warrant against Mohamed Abdi Ali, linked to the 2019 Dusit D2 terror attack for failing to appear in court for the case

Mohamed was to appear in court yesterday for his defence hearing but failed, prompting the lead prosecution counsel Dancun Ondimu to request Justice Diana Kavedza to iasue a warrant against him.

He was set to defend himself together with Hussein Abdile Ali. The hearing proceeds on Thursday.

In January, the two were found with a case to answer in the terror attack.

High Court Judge Kavedza, found that the evidence produced by the director of public prosecution was proved against Hussein Abdile Ali and Mohamed Abdi Ali.

The incident which took place in January 2019, claimed lives of 21 people and injured several others.

“Having considered the evidence of 55 witnesses, including expert testimonies, and the material presented before me, I am satisfied that the prosecution has established a prima facie case against the two accused persons,” Justice Kavedza ruled.

The judge added, “I hereby place the second accused, and the third accused on their defence,” the judge added.” The two accused persons were arrested along with a third suspect, who was subsequently convicted following a plea bargain. The two will start defending themselves on February 6.
