His graduation came following the approval and publication of his PhD thesis in Law and Public Policy. In a statement dated Monday, July 7, 2025, Wajackoyah revealed that, in addition to being validated, his doctoral thesis has been published by the Library of Congress in the United States.

“I am very happy to announce that my PhD thesis in Law and Public Policy has been validated and published by the Library of Congress in the United States,” read part of his statement.

Six years

According to the Roots party leader, the validation of his thesis paved the way for US lawmakers to refer to his work as a legal reference when formulating immigration laws.

Other accolades

Before taking a stab at the country’s top seat, Wajackoyah gave several interviews where he narrated his rags-to-riches story, starting from digging graves to an accomplished profession.

“The first degree I did was from the University of Wolverhampton, where I got a third-class honour in law because at that time, I was digging graves, washing dead bodies, working as a security guard, and going to school at the same time,” Wajackoyah stated during a previous interview.

“After that, I went to the University of London, where I did my first master’s, and after that, I went to the University of Warwick, where I did another master’s. Ekuru Aukot came there five years behind me.”

Wajackoyah attended high school at St. Peter’s Mumias Boys, where he completed his A-levels in 1980.

He later joined the Kenya Police Training College in Kiganjo to study policing and criminal investigation. After graduating, Wajackoyah joined the police service as a constable and rose to the rank of inspector.

His notable achievement in the security sector was working in the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), where he was tasked with collecting intelligence related to the death of the then Foreign Affairs Minister, Robert Ouko.
