Victor Wanyama: Former Harambee Stars’ captain named in Celtic legend’s all-time first 11

Celtic legend Scott Brown has named Victor Wanyama in his all-time first 11 for the Scottish Premiership club.
Brown was the club’s captain who led them to nine consecutive Premiership titles and left as a legend of the game. In his all-time 11, Craig Gordon has been named as the goalkeeper.
Steven Whittaker, who is the first one of the two Rangers boys who made it into Brown’s honoured lineup, has been listed as the right back.
Current Liverpool captain, Virgil van Dijk, who signed for Celtic from FC Groningen, is Bown’s preferred centre-back.
Van Dijk has been partnered with Mikael Lustig, who joined the club from Norwegian side Rosenborg.
Brown has named Kieran Tierney as his preferred left-back. Tierney made his Celtic debut at just 17 years of age, but the teenager impressed right away and became a regular feature in the matchday squads.
James Forrest has also made the cut and is named as a right midfielder.
Wanyama, who is one of Kenya’s high-profile footballers, made a name for himself in Celtic green. His ability to knock players off the ball with ease is one of the qualities that the former Harambee Star had.
Brown partnered Wanyama in midfield with Kevin Thomson, who suffered early setbacks with a cruciate ligament injury before he established himself as one of the club’s most important players.
Shunsuke Nakamura has been entered as a preferred left midfielder. Steven Fletcher and Robbie Keane have been named as strikers.
