Zetech University has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with entrepreneurship firm, Wylde International in a deal that will see the two collaborate in joint research activities, donor funding, joint contract bidding for consultancies among other mutually beneficial projects.

The two will engage in knowledge-creation, deriving new methodologies and concepts that provide solutions to the existing societal challenges, through the Zetech Innovation Entrepreneurship and Technology Hub (iZET).

Speaking after signing the pact, Zetech Vice-Chancellor Professor Njenga Munene emphasized the need for universities to collaborate in research activities to eradicate the social-economic challenges facing Kenyans. “As institutions of higher learning, we have the mandate to join forces with a variety of organizations and look into what is holding our country back both socially and economically,” he said.

Through the iZET Hub, Zetech University has supported innovative projects that impact society; such as the Alex Cane, which is a smart electronic cane to assist the visually impaired. The Alex Cane assists the users to navigate paths without hindrance through communication via earphones and a vibrating grip on the cane, to alert them on obstacles ahead.
The University therefore looks forward to supporting more research projects and innovations through such collaborations.

On his part, Wylde International Director, Kiriinya Kithinji expressed his optimism in what would come of the pact. “At, Wylde international, we empower businesses and institutions to achieve their potential and excel in their mandate. We look forward to a successful collaboration and even fruitful pact with Zetech University in the next three years,” he affirmed.
