University fetes winners of Sh120m Hult Prize
St Paul’s University has feted five students who won the Sh120 million 2022 Hult Global Prize.
They were honoured at a thanksgiving event hosted by the university’s Beyond Classroom Club. The award-winning, multimillion project known as Eco-Bana is the brainchild of Lenox Omondi (executive officer), Keylie Ogolla (Chief Operations Officer), Brian Ndung’u (Chief Communication and Marketing Officer), Dullah Shiltone (Chief Financial Officer), and Emanuel Omondi (Chief Technical Officer). Students as well as university staff, including Head of Communication department, Dr Susan Mwangi and Idah Wayumba (Matron, Beyond Classroom Club), grace the occassion.
Dr Mwangi expressed her appreciation and commended the group for not only promoting the Club but also placing the university on the map internationally. Also in attendance were media personalities Dan Mule, Salim Swaleh, Steve Juma and Emanuel Terer.
The five won the cash prize after their Eco-Bana project won in the competition’s finals, which were held in New York on September 20, with former US President Bill Clinton serving as the keynote speaker.
