Uhuru nominates Mutuku, Ogallo as EACC members
President Uhuru Kenyatta has nominated Cecilia Mbinya Mutuku and John Ogallo as members of Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC).
The two will fill two positions that were left vacant by Dabar Abdi Maalim and Rose Mghoi Macharia who quit the anti-graft body in September 2021.
The President forwarded the names of the two to the National Assembly for approval.
“Having received the report of the Public Service Commission on the recruitment of persons for appointment as commissioners, His Excellency the President has forwarded the two names to fill the existing vacancies,” Speaker Justin Muturi said in a statement.
Muturi said the nominees will be forwarded to the Departmental Committee on Justice and Legal Affairs (JLAC) for vetting.
“The Committee is expected to notify the nominees and the general public of the time and place for holding the approval hearings and thereafter, upon conclusion of the hearings, table its report to enable the House to consider the matter within the statutory timelines,” Muturi said.
Dabar Abdi Maalim, and Rose Mghoi Macharia quit the commission last year before the end of their six-year term.
