UDA Youth League calls for peaceful June 25 demos
The UDA Party Youth League has asked those planning for the June 25 demonstrations to do so in peace and shun violent activities.
In commemoration of the June 25, 2024, protests, citizens are expected to demonstrate in the country, and the youths allied to the ruling party have called for peaceful activities.
“It is the constitutional right of those intending to protest to do so… However, we are equally disturbed by the emerging trend of lawless behaviour during demonstrations where some individuals have resorted to provoking law officers, damaging public and private property, and disturbing businesses.”
“These actions undermine the genuine spirit of peaceful protest and put innocent lives at risk, including those of our men and women in uniform,” their statement posted on the party’s X handle read in part.

The Youth League also called out those who sponsor goons to infiltrate these demonstrations that are meant to be peaceful.
“Violence from any quarter, be it from the police or the protesting civilians, is unacceptable.
“The unfortunate scenario with our Gen Z protests is that they are often infiltrated by scavengers on a separate mission. In such instances, police must move in to protect private property. The protesting youths must ensure they are peaceful and also stop these acts of provoking law enforcers. We want to see them ensuring peaceful protests,” it concluded.
