TSC announces 21,313 teaching and leadership vacancies
The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has announced a massive recruitment drive for 21,313 positions in various teaching and leadership roles nationwide.
In a notice released on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, TSC invited applications from suitably qualified teachers and Curriculum Support Officers to fill positions ranging from Chief Principals to Senior Teachers, as well as various administrative and technical roles in line with the Career Progression Guidelines for Teachers and Curriculum Support Officers.
Among the advertised vacancies are 105 positions for Chief Principals in both regular and teacher training colleges (TTC) institutions, 496 Senior Principals, 676 Principals, and 990 Deputy Principals. Other posts include Senior Lecturers, Senior Masters, Head Teachers, Deputy Head Teachers, and thousands of Senior Teacher slots in both regular and special needs education (SNE) schools.
The Commission is also seeking Curriculum Support Officers, with more than 300 opportunities available for both regular and SNE streams. The largest single category is Senior Teacher II – Regular, with 4,683 slots.
Strengthen leadership
TSC emphasised that successful candidates will be posted to schools where vacancies exist, ensuring equitable distribution of staff across the country. The recruitment aims to strengthen leadership and teaching capacity in Kenyan schools, improve learning outcomes, and enhance the delivery of the curriculum.
The Commission also reaffirmed its commitment to inclusivity, encouraging persons with disabilities to apply.
“This recruitment process is an opportunity to bring on board dedicated professionals who will drive the quality of education in our schools. We urge eligible teachers to submit their applications on time,” the notice read in part.

The Teachers Service Commission, established under Article 237(1) of the Constitution, is mandated to register, employ, promote, and exercise disciplinary control over teachers in both public primary and secondary schools, as well as teacher training colleges.
This announcement comes at a time when the education sector is working to address staffing shortages, especially in remote and marginalised areas, and to fill leadership gaps in institutions where promotions or retirements have created vacancies.
Interested applicants are advised to review the full list of positions, qualifications, and requirements on the TSC portal before applying.
