Harambee Stars vs Ivory Coast duel

Harambee Stars will be taking on African champions Ivory Coast in another World Cup qualifier in Lilongwe, Malawi, on Tuesday, June 11, 2024.

This is after drawing 1-1 against Burundi in the last qualifier, and Kenya are under pressure to deliver against the continental heavyweights.

Eyes will be on coach Engin Firat to see how he will line up his team to take on the Elephants at the Bingu National Stadium.

As Harambee Stars prepare to take on the West Africans, Ivory Coast’s coach, Emerse Fae, revealed the threat he expects to encounter during the game.

“Kenya is a good team. It has a good striker, Michael Olunga, who is a great player with the ability to play in different formations. Kenya is a difficult team to play against, and we know they are working hard to be the first team to beat the African champions. We are for sure prepared to face a tough opposition,” the AFCON-winning coach told the press.

After the draw against Burundi, coach Firat added more faces to bolster the squad. Kenya Police centre-back David Cheche and Nyasa Big Bullets’ Clyde Senaji were summoned to bolster the defensive unit.

Eyes on Mt. Kenya rivalry

As the Mount Kenya kingship war intensifies, eyes will be on what different factions continue to do to try and outdo their rivals.

There have been two factions so far, one allied to Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and another led by Kikuyu Member of Parliament Kimani Ichungwah and his Kiharu counterpart, Ndindi Nyoro.

In a recent battle, Gatundu North MP Elijah Njoroge Kururia claimed Nyoro is Mt. Kenya’s king, and his utterances are expected to attract reaction from Gachagua’s circle.

“No one should be bossy to others or force them to back his political aspirations. We know who we want, and this time around, we have decided to rally behind youngsters. We are all behind Ndindi Nyoro, and we know he is the kingpin of the Mt. Kenya region,” Kururia said.
