Eyes on Olympics 2024

Kenya hopes to revamp its medal tally with the women’s marathon scheduled to begin at 9:00 am on Sunday, August 11, 2024, in Paris.

Eyes will be fixed on the country’s Marathon sensation Hellen Obiri alongside other competitors Sharon Lokedi and Peres Jepchirchir as they battle it out in Paris.

This comes just a day after Kenyas Benson Kipruto won a bronze medal in the men’s marathon following the withdrawal of Olympic marathon favourite Eliud Kipchoge.

Kipchoge failed to finish the race, stating that he was keenly considering retirement from active sport.

CSs hit the ground running

After their appointments and swearing-in at State House, Cabinet Secretaries in President William Ruto’s broad-based government are expected to hit the ground running, with a few of them already seen taking their duty tours with the president.

On Saturday, August 10, 2024, Mining, Blue Economy and Maritime Affairs CS Hassan Joho visited Kirinyaga County in the company of Ruto, whom he said had given him tight deadlines on the deliverables in that area.

The other cabinet secretaries already have their jobs cut out for them as they assume office following weeks of protests about the state of the economy and the increased tax proposals.
