Swearing-in of Cabinet nominees
President William Ruto is set to swear in 19 cabinet secretary nominees after they were cleared by the Parliamentary Committee on Appointment following days of vetting.
Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah announced the approval on Wednesday, August 7, 2024, shortly after the conclusion of the vetting process for 20 individuals.
The approved CSs include;
1. National Treasury – John Mbadi
2. Youth Affairs, Creative Economy and Sports – Kipchumba Murkomen
3. Cooperatives and MSME Development – Wycliffe Oparanya
4. Tourism and Wildlife – Rebecca Miano
5. Energy and Petroleum – Opiyo Wandayi
6. Public Service – Justin Muturi
7. Investments, Trade and Industry – Salim Mvurya
8. Labour and Social Protection – Alfred Mutua
9. Mining and Blue Economy – Hassan Joho
10. Ministry of the Interior and National Administration – Kithure Kindiki

Nane-Nane Demos
Police have stated they are ready for the planned demonstrations on Thursday, August 8, 2024, dubbed Nane-Nane by the youth.
The Deputy Inspector General in charge of the Administration Police Service who is also the acting Inspector General of Police Gilbert Masengeli and his Kenya Police Service counterpart Eliud Lagat yesterday met senior officers at the National Police Training Campus in Embakasi where it was resolved, among other things, that the deployment will be heavy and that the protests would be allowed to take place.
The meeting was also attended by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) boss, Mohammed Amin whose docket is expected to play a key role in the deployment of officers for covert operations.
Reports indicate that security agencies have been directed not to take any chances and instead deploy all the available resources including aerial support for the ground troops.
Blackout to affect seven counties
Kenya Power has announced a power interruption on Thursday which is set to hit seven Counties throughout the country.
In a statement, the utility company advised its customers in Kiambu, Kisumu, Nyeri, Nakuru, Meru and Kwale counties to adjust accordingly on Thursday, August 8, 2024.
