Politicians in Churches

Being a Sunday, several political leaders are expected to join congregants for worship sessions. As has become their norm, they never shy away from touching on political matters while in churches on Sundays.

These appearances often blur the lines between religious devotion and political campaigning, as politicians use the platform to connect with their constituents and push their agendas.

Kenya Power Blackout

Kenya Power has issued a notice informing Kenyans of an expected power outage scheduled for Sunday, June 2, 2024.

In their statement, the utility company stated that the interruptions, expected to affect three counties, are part of network maintenance. The affected counties will be Nairobi, Kakamega, and Uasin Gishu.

In Nairobi, the outage will affect Syokimau, Kyangombe, SGR, part of Mombasa Road, and the Inland Container Depot from 9 am to 5 pm. Specific areas impacted include Inland Container Depot (ICD), Kyang’onte, Heavy Engineering, Tile & Carpet, Kings, Atlantis Business Park, Wallstreet Business Park, Pewengen Renewable Energy, Sbnit Converters, Sanden Intercool (K), Enyon Ltd, Hasbah Kenya, Pilitrade Centre, Posh Autobody, Jumbo Chem, Alpha Centre, Raintons, Tuskys HODS, Steel Makers, Manchester Outfitters, Rea, Nice & Lovely, Prime Cartons, Ocean Group, Kenbro, Saj Ceramics, Patmos, Laneeb Plastics, Chemical & Solvent, Nyoro Construction, Kenbelt, KenGen Godown, Label Converters, and adjacent customers.

In Uasin Gishu, the outage will affect parts of the Sokomoko area, including Sokomoko, Muyuki, Mukuyu, Mkuyonyi Primary School, Maragusi, Makutano Market, Evona, Mathero Dispensary, Fri School, Lumama Secondary School, Ivane Centre, Primary, and adjacent customers from 10 am to 5 pm.

Parts of Kakamega will be affected from 8.30 am to 5 pm, including Mumias Sugar, Ekero market, and Mumias Town. Specific areas impacted include Mumias Town, Shibale, Mwitoti, Shianda Market, Lubino, St. Peter Boys, Mumias Hospital, Ekero, St. Mary Hospital, Mumias Sugar, and adjacent customers.

National Super League

The National Super League is set to continue with two matches lined up for Sunday afternoon at the Coast and in Nairobi.

Coast Stima will welcome Rainbow FC in Mombasa, while league leaders Mara Sugar will face Nairobi Stima as they seek to extend their stay at the top of the log.

Kenya 7s Moment of Truth

Kenya 7s will have a crucial opportunity to determine their playing status for next season when they feature in the HSBC Sevens Series promotion qualifier match.

Shujaa, having been relegated last season, have battled their way through to reach the qualifiers. This leaves them with one crucial game to decide their fate, marking a pivotal moment for the team as they strive to reclaim their position in the top tier of international sevens rugby.
