Ruto’s gender parity card

After President William Ruto suggested that he would support the deputy president position being reserved for ladies, women politicians are expected to react in agreement.

Ruto promised to agree with his deputy, Rigathi Gachagua, to preserve the United Democratic Alliance’s (UDA) presidential running mate position for women.

The Head of State made the statement during the launch of the Women Governors Caucus G7 Strategy in Nairobi on Thursday, where he emphasized his commitment to implementing the two-thirds gender rule in his party.

This suggestion is expected to cause massive political reactions.

Impeachment of Kisii Deputy Governor

The ongoing process to impeach Kisii County Deputy Governor Robert Monda is set to attract much political attention.

His impeachment process will be heard in plenary after a proposal to establish an 11-member special committee collapsed.

Simba Arati’s deputy faced the wrath of Kisii Assembly members for claims of gross misconduct, violation of the Constitution, abuse of office, and crimes under national law.

Among the accusations is that he used his position to solicit Ksh800,000, thereby conferring a financial benefit upon himself and attempting to influence Gusii Water and Sanitation Company’s (GWASCO’s)  hiring decision by sending Sh100,000 to its Managing Director.

A motion to establish an 11-member committee to investigate the allegations and report back to the House within ten days collapsed on Thursday after Senate Majority Leader Aaron Cheruiyot, while moving the motion to establish the select committee, failed to get a seconder of the motion.
