Tim Wanyonyi shares lessons, good times he shared with his late brother James Mukhwana
Westlands Member of Parliament (MP) Tim Wanyonyi has paid a touching tribute to his elder brother, James Mukhwana, describing him as a unifying figure, a source of wise counsel, and a man who lived a life free of controversy.
In an emotional eulogy on Friday, December 19, 2025, during the funeral of the late James in Tuuti, Bungoma County, the legislator said the family was devastated by the loss of James, whom he noted was taken too soon.

Wanyonyi’s tribute
“James, my big brother, gone too soon,” Wanyonyi wrote. “We loved you and would have wished to have you with us for much longer, but the Lord has called you back to Himself,” Tim Wanyonyi shared via X.

The MP reflected on the deep bond they shared, recalling moments marked by guidance and mentorship. He said James consistently offered him wise counsel, shaping not only his personal life but also the values he continues to uphold.
“When I look back and remember the times we shared, I see the wise counsel you would always pass on to me,” he said.
Wanyonyi described his late brother as a natural leader and a peacemaker, noting that James steered clear of conflict both within the family and in the wider community. According to the MP, these qualities set him apart and left a lasting impression on those who knew him.

“You were our leader, a peacemaker, and at no time were you involved in any controversies in or out of the family values I will hold onto,” he added.
The tribute also carried cultural and spiritual undertones, as Wanyonyi prayed for his brother’s peaceful rest, entrusting him to God and the saints. “Simakulu wefwe, may the holy angels of God and all Saints receive you in heaven and give you a good home to rest and watch over us,” he wrote.
At the same time, National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula took the opportunity to reflect on the last-minute attempts to save the life of James Mukwana Wetang’ula, whose demise was confirmed by his brother and Westland Member of Parliament, Tim Wanyonyi, through his Facebook page on Wednesday, December 10, 2025.
