Three guards arrested over billionaire Chandaria’s home raid

Police have arrested three suspects, all of them guards, over the night raid at billionaire Manu Chandaria’s home in Muthaiga on Sunday night where robbers made away with an unknown amount of money.

A police constable Jared Omboga Makambe, who was manning the gate, is among the suspects. Others are Judah Wafula and Stephen Omwega, private guards also based at the industrialist’s home.

According to a police report filed at Muthaiga Police Station on Monday afternoon, the suspects allegedly used Constable Makambe’s G3 firearm to orchestrate the violent robbery.

The report by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations indicates that the robbers fired a shot at the door prompting the businessman to call his guards on phone, who in turn did not respond.

“It occurred on the 14th day of December 2020 at around 0130 hrs within Muthaiga residence house no.52.it was reported by Dr Manu Chandaria of mobile phone 0722*** that, he heard a loud bang at the main door and he rang the security phone but it was not answered,” read the report.

The industrialist told police that he saw two thugs, one armed with a firearm and the other a metal cutter, enter his house. The robbers broke into a safe and took an unknown amount of money and jewelries.

After robbing the home, they fired several shots and left, dumping the gun in a nearby bush on their way out of the posh home.
