The government  is expected to spend Sh8.2 billion beginning January next year on the expansion of public secondary schools’ infrastructure across the country.

Education Principal Secretary Belio Kipsang said the move will boost achievement of 100 per cent transition from primary to secondary schools.

Speaking in Uasin Gishu county when he presided over the unveiling of Sh1.6 billion Nova Pioneer Schools for Innovators and Leaders, an international private secondary school in Eldoret, Kipsang assured that the recruitment of 10,000 intern teachers will be completed before the end of the year.

“The government has put in place measures to ensure that we deploy enough tutors to our school environment,” he said.

The CS said the infrastructure investment is part of the government’s long-term plan to encourage science and innovation in schools as the country transits to the new Competency-Based Curriculum.

He said the government was ready to handle the high number of the learners set to join Form One next year.
