Stakes raised as Dennis Oliech Cup semi-finals reaches semi-final
Sparks are expected to fly in the second edition of Dennis Oliech Cup semi-finals at Dagoretti grounds today.
The first semi final will pit Fifa Best against DN Hotstars while the second will be between Bundes and Mashimoni.
En route to the last four, Fifa Best posted a convincing 4-1 win over Makarios while DN Hotstars secured a slot in the stage with a slim 2-1 victory over Santiago Academy.
On their part, Bundes reached the semi finals after dispatching Bul Youngsters 1-0 while Mashimoni qualified by prevailing 2-1 over Bright Allstars.
Already, anxiety amongst fans is in the air and they certainly cannot wait to watch top players who have shown for their respective teams right from the preliminary stage.
Among the players to watch is former Harambee Stars defender Wesley Onguso, who has starred for Fifa Best, and Mashimoni’s Walter Juma who scored a hat-trick in his team’s 4-2 victory over Bright Stars in the quarter finals.
Leading gaming company Mozzart is the official sponsor of the second edition that started on July 4 and is credited with pumping Sh 6.4 Million into the tournament which will go towards cash prizes and trophies.
The tournament had attracted 64 grassroots teams from the informal settlements from Dagoretti, Kawangware and neighbouring slums.
Former Ajjacio, Al Arabi, Harambee Stars and Gor Mahia striker, Dennis Oliech is the founder of the tournament.
