Sossion, Jaguar interviewed for CAS position
The Public Service Commission (PSC) yesterday kicked off interviews for Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) positions by vetting 46 candidates.
The interviews took place even as the Azimio la Umoja opposed the creation of the CAS office.
Among those who were interviewed yesterday were former Samburu Governor Moses Lenolkulal, former Kamukunji MP Charles Njagua, alias Jaguar and former Starehe MP Margaret Wanjiru (pictured).
Former nominated MPs Isaac Mwaura and Wilson Sossion also faced the interview panel.
“Candidates should bring originals of academic and professional certificates and transcripts and valid clearances from the Kenya Revenue Authority, Higher Education Loans Board, registered credit reference bureau and police clearance certificate,” a notice from the Commission reads.
Others who were vetted were blogger Dennis Itumbi and former Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commissioner Thomas Letangule.
Others in day one of the interviews were Rose Githu, Elly Loldepe, Lekisaat Seina, Sophia Lepuchirit and Emily Odiwuor.
The PSC will draw the final list of successful candidates and then hand them over to President William Ruto for appointment.
“The shortlisted candidates will be interviewed at the Public Service Commission, off Harambee Avenue Nairobi,” PSC said in a public notice of the interview schedule.
But in a statement, Leader of Minority in the National Assembly Opiyo Wandayi said the Opposition is opposed to efforts to expand the Executive and create “excessive bureaucracy that will add no value to the lives of our people”.
“Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya Coalition Party is alarmed that despite the prevailing difficult economic times that require a rethink and re-organization of government spending priorities, the Kenya Kwanza regime is proceeding with its plans to recruit tens of Cabinet Administrative Secretaries and expansion of the Executive,” he said.
He added: “We are dismayed that William Ruto who campaigned against the BBI on grounds that it was meant to create positions is now busy creating positions that will add no value whatsoever to service delivery and steering the country in the right direction. We reject this total waste of resources.”
The interviews will go on until next Wednesday.
