Royal Media Services Chairman SK Macharia has addressed speculations surrounding former Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s health amid public concern.

Raila Odinga’s health status and general whereabouts have been a topic of discussion in the country, with politicians from both the government and the opposition coming to loggerheads over the health status of the ODM leader, who is in India for medical attention.

Speaking in Siaya during a bod boda empowerment initiative led by Deputy President Kithure Kindiki on Monday, October 13, 2025, the business mogul and an ally to the Odinga family said there is no need for alarm over Raila Odinga’s health. SK Macharia said he has been in constant communication with the former PM, the latest conversation coming on Monday morning.

He said he has kept the promise he made to Jararamogi Oginga Odinga, father to Siaya Senator Oburu Odinga and the ODM chief, Raila Odinga, of staying closer and supporting the family since 1992.

”When Oginga Odinga died, he left me two sons, Oburu and Raila. I am older than Oburu, and I have been supporting Raila in every election since 1992. Even this morning, I spoke to Raila Odinga, and he is very healthy, jumping. He is going to come back in a few days to join us,” SK Macharia said.

The RMS chairman donated a sum of Ksh500,000 towards empowering boda boda riders in Siaya County, further urging them to utilise digital tracking platforms to ensure their safety while going about their businesses. ”Boda boda, we are creating a program for every rider to register their credentials for tracking to ensure their safety,” he added.

ODM speaks

Meanwhile, in a statement released on Sunday, October 5, 2025, the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has accused the United Opposition of orchestrating a campaign of misinformation regarding the health of former Prime Minister and party leader Raila Odinga.

“The political formation of impeached former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and his struggling team of Kalonzo Musyoka and Eugene Wamalwa, among others, are on a familiar campaign of misinformation on the health of former Prime Minister and ODM Party Leader Raila Odinga,” ODM stated.

ODM further accused the same group of previously launching a propaganda campaign during Raila Odinga’s bid for the African Union Commission chairmanship earlier this year.
