Sifuna-led Linda Mwananchi to cover funeral expenses of supporter killed in Kitengela

Embakasi East MP Babu Owino, an integral member of the Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna-led Linda Mwananchi forum, has stated that the team will cater for the funeral expenses of their supporter who was shot during their rally in Kitengela.

While speaking during an interview with a local radio station on Sunday, February 22, 2026, the outspoken lawmaker said that the team had already reached out to the family of their supporter, who had just turned up to witness the rally only to be met with a bullet, and that they would be stepping in to cover the costs of giving the young man his last respects.

“We have reached out to the family. We want to take care of the funeral expenses for this young man,” he said.

He added that the 28-year-old, Vincent Ayomo, had come out like many other youths to protest the rising cost of living and to send a message to his fellow Kenyans that enough was enough.

Babu Owino further stated that, as an advocate, he will also move to court to ensure the family is compensated, noting that while reparations could never equate to a life lost, he would pursue the case to the fullest extent to make sure that at least the family gets justice.

On the person who shot him, Babu Owino said that the government might not follow up on the matter, but he believed that one day the law would catch up with the perpetrator, who would face murder charges.

He added that they would push to ensure that whoever pulled the trigger is first arrested and brought to justice and faces the consequences.

This comes days after Sifuna  blamed President William Ruto for the shooting in Kitengela that claimed Ayomo’s life

In a statement shared on his social media accounts on Monday, February 16, 2026, the Orange Democratic Movement Secretary General expressed his sorrow after the confirmation of the death of the 28-year-old, who died under what he termed a senseless killing perpetrated by the current regime.

The embattled senator further sent his condolences to the bereaved family as he demanded that the late Vincent be accorded justice and that the police officer responsible for shooting the young man be held accountable.

Sifuna further added that such instances are the ones that, according to him, his Linda Wananchi ODM rebel team is working hard to fight.
