Sifuna blames Ruto’s regime for police shooting of 28-year-old in Kitengela
Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna has blamed President William Ruto for the shooting in Kitengela that claimed the life of 28-year-old Vincent Ayomo, who succumbed to his injuries.
In a statement shared on his social media accounts on Monday, February 16, 2026, the Orange Democratic Movement Secretary General expressed his sorrow after the confirmation of the death of the 28-year-old, who died under what he termed a senseless killing perpetrated by the current regime.

The embattled senator further sent his condolences to the bereaved family as he demanded that the late Vincent be accorded justice and that the police officer responsible for shooting the young man be held accountable.
Sifuna further added that such instances are the ones that, according to him, his Linda Wananchi ODM rebel team is working hard to fight.
Hussein Khalid of Vocal Africa has also come out to voice his disappointment over the death of the young man, who had only gone to follow the proceedings of the Sifuna-led Linda Wananchi team, only to be shot.
He stated that the deceased was shot in the head, and the bullet went through the eye and exited from the back of the head.
He noted that His postmortem is slated for Tuesday, February 17, 2026. He further added that the deceased has left behind a 24-year-old wife, Khadija Riamey, and one daughter.
Kitengela chaos

This comes after the Kitengela rally, which descended into chaos marked by tear gas and live bullets after a large crowd turned up to witness the historic “Sisi Ndio Sifuna” rally that brought Kitengela to a standstill.
Despite the disturbance, Sifuna went on with his rally as planned. He had been joined by a section of ODM leaders who are opposed to the current move by the party to initiate talks with the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) on structured pre-coalition agreements.
Edwin Sifuna, Siaya Governor James Orengo, Embakasi East MP Babu Owino, Suba North MP Caroli Omondi, Saboti MP Caleb Amisi, Kisii Senator Richard Onyonka, and many others lead the team.
Leaders condemning the act

Several leaders, led by People’s Liberation Party (PLP) leader Martha Karua, have come out to condemn the melee. Without mincing her words, she termed the act shameful and wondered what informed the tear-gassing since, according to her, the rally was going on peacefully.
Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K) party leader Eugene Wamalwa has also come out to condemn the incident, saying that two people died during the chaos, with 50 others injured. He called upon the international community to intervene.
