Sifuna: Kitengela victim was shot dead after not during rally
Edwin Sifuna, the Nairobi Senator, has clarified that their supporter, Vincent Ayuoma, was gunned down after, and not during, their historic Kitengela Linda Mwanachi rally.
Speaking on Monday, February 23, 2026, after visiting the family of the deceased in Kitengela, the outspoken senator said he sought clarification from the family, who confirmed that Vincent was shot after the rally.
“Vincent hakupigwa risasi kama mkutano unaendelea, alipigwa risasi kama mkutano umeisha,” Edwin sifuna said
They stated that he was not part of the political event and was only heading home from his workplace at the time of the incident.

Babu Owino, who accompanied his Linda Mwananchi counterpart, reiterated the same position. He expressed his disappointment with the state, questioning how a young man who was simply heading home could be shot by police, and criticised the conduct of the officers involved.
“If Vincent came from the job, and he was not even part of this, right, he came from the job, from his workplace. That clearly shows you that there was malice, because the police officers are bloodthirsty.”
Babu Owino further stated that they would petition the government to compensate the family of the 28-year-old, who leaves behind a 24-year-old widow and a two-year-old daughter.
“We will petition the government to seek compensation, because this debt is coming from the government we also got from”
The family also pleaded with the two politicians to step in and offer financial assistance, particularly to help facilitate the transportation of the body from Nairobi to Kisumu, where he will be buried in the Airport area. They disclosed that the funeral budget stands at approximately Ksh500k
Covering funeral expenses

This comes a day after Babu Owino confirmed that the Sifuna-led Linda Mwanachi team will be covering the funeral expenses of Vincent.
While speaking during an interview with a local radio station on Sunday, February 22, 2026, the outspoken lawmaker said that the team had already reached out to the family of their supporter and would be stepping in to cover the costs of giving the young man his final respects.
