Wajir Senator Ali Abdullahi wants the State to come clean on the increased cases of abductions and disappearances of members of the public.

Citing the alleged abduction and disappearance of Prof Abdiwahab Abdiswamad from Wajir county who was abducted by four men near City Market in Nairobi and forced into a white double cabin – KCW341Y on Wednesday September 8, 2021.

Abdullahi claimed preliminary investigations reveal that security personnel are involved in abductions and disappearances of innocent citizens.

“Outline the measures the Ministry of Interior has put in place, if any, to establish the whereabouts of Abdiswamad and any other missing person and to bring to book the persons involved in such heinous acts,” the senator said in a statement to the Standing Committee on National Security, De- fence and Foreign Relations.

Mombasa Senator Mohamed Faki has also sought a similar statement from the same committee over the rise in cases of abductions, detentions and forced disappearance of people in the country in general and in Mom- basa county.

“The committee should explain the whereabouts of Abdulhakeem Sagar, who was abducted by police officers in Old Town area Mombasa county on August 18, allegedly for sponsoring terrorism,” Senator Faki said.
