Murang’a County Senator Joe Nyutu has asserted that President William Ruto is capable of promising anything for political expediency and survival.

Speaking to a local TV on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, Nyutu stated that the current administration was built on lies, with most of its political declarations meant solely to achieve political objectives.

Capable of promising anything

“Ruto can promise anything without any regard to the process that leads to the implementation of a particular decision. He thinks Kenyans will not remember what he said yesterday. Lying for him is a way of life,” he stated.

The senator also castigated the president for running down the education sector through his administrative policies.

He stated that it was ironic for the president to claim he was the most learned president yet be the one ruining the country’s education sector.

Apart from Senator Nyutu, former CS Justin Muturi also claimed that Ruto is a pathological liar.

Running down education

“This is an administration that cares about political survival and reelection as schools are going down and are in debt,” he stated.

“Ruto and his administration have brought down education completely. You wonder when he says he is the best president ever and the most learnt, while he is the one deliberately destroying education. How could he afford to host about 10,000 teachers from Kenya and pay them Ksh10,000 each? That is about 10 million without factoring in the logistics used to set up the meeting,’ he wondered.

His sentiments come after Ruto hosted a delegation of teachers at State House during the Waalimu Na Rais Forum at State House, Nairobi, on Saturday, September 13, 2025.

Ruto announced that teachers will be allocated at least 20 per cent of the Affordable Housing units for their contribution to the scheme, a declaration that drew criticism from MPs and politicians.

James Gakuya, the Member of Parliament for Embakasi North, dismissed the promise, terming it a misuse of power by the Head of State.

“This is total misuse of power where one who is entitled to the presidency has gone low and has now moved out of the path. There is a procedure for acquiring this housing,” Gakuya said.

Gakuya, while questioning Ruto’s governance, also questioned the speciality of the teachers while demanding that Ruto follow the procedure put in place by law.

“Follow the procedure because you have a say, and you only require a stroke of the pen and decide these groups should be given this. How special is this group?” Gakuya questioned.
