Savula backs Wetang’ula’s 2032 presidential ambition
By Mabonga Makhanu, September 28, 2025Kakamega Deputy Governor Ayub Savula has endorsed National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula’s 2032 presidential ambitions.
While speaking in Kakamega on Saturday, September 28, 2025, Savula threw his weight behind the speaker’s bid, saying that this is a period of generational change and everyone should come out and embrace it.
He went on to assure Wetang’ula of his full support, adding that the time has come for the community to rise and make a strong attempt at the presidency.
“Na generational change nimeona kule Lugari, Mheshimiwa Wetang’ula ametangaza 2032, anaenda kugombea urais. I want to tell Wetang’ula I am ready 24/7 to support you to become the president in 2032. Mluhya akijitokeza support yeye, we have to grow. Wetang’ula, we are ready to support you.”
Wetang’ula declares presidential ambitions
These come days after the National Assembly speaker launched his 2032 presidential bid, urging the community to support Ruto to be re-elected in 2027. According to him, the only way the community can realise its dream of having one of their own assume the top seat is by supporting the president who, after his term, will be willing to hand over power to them.

“When you want to be a leader, you must allow other people to use your shoulders to climb to power so that when your time arrives, they will also give you their shoulder to climb.” Wetang’ula stated.
“Personally, I am doing so, for the Luhya community’s dream of wanting to rule the country will be determined by the 2027 elections. We will support William Ruto, and after his term in 2032, I will be ready to take over from him; the field will be open,” Wetang’ula stated.
Ruto’s successor
President Ruto’s aide, Farouk Kibet, recently, while speaking in Vihiga, also stated that the region that is best positioned to take over from President Ruto was western Kenya.

He urged the region to rally behind Ruto’s reelection in 2027 since, after his final term in 2032, Western Kenya will be his possible successor.
According to Farouk, Ruto will be willing to support any leader from Mulembe who is interested in succeeding him.
He further stated that since they are neighbours with the Kalenjin community, they will also be willing to pay back to the Mulembe region after supporting their own son for 2 terms.
