Salasya rallies support to establish new polling stations in Mumias East
Mumias East Member of Parliament Peter Salasya has urged his constituents to submit their polling station establishment memoranda at the Deputy County Commissioner’s office, Shianda, on Tuesday, September 9, 2025.
The particular exercise is in line with preparations for the forthcoming official gazetting of polling stations by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).
According to Salasya, the latest move is aimed at easing the movement of voters walking long distances to exercise their democratic rights in Kakamega County, specifically Mumias East.
”It has come to our attention that many voters have been walking long and exhausting distances to exercise their democratic right, especially those forced to travel to Emakhwale, Shanderema, or Elusheya polling stations. To address this, we have already secured the establishment of a new polling station at Mwitoti Market, strategically positioned to ease the burden on residents.” Salasya said.

”I therefore call upon all concerned residents and community leaders to mobilise and present their written memoranda, highlighting areas where polling stations remain inaccessible, so that every voter in Mumias East can be facilitated to participate effectively in national decision-making. Your participation is not just important; it is the foundation of strengthening our democracy and ensuring no voice is silenced due to distance.” The lawmaker said in a statement on Tuesday, September 9, 2025.
