Mumias East Member of Parliament (MP) Peter Salasya has revived his presidential ambitions, pledging to transform the country and make it great, just as the late President Mwai Kibaki did, if elected in 2027 as the Head of State.

The vocal lawmaker is on a campaign trail trying to sell his vision, popularising his presidential bid ahead of the 2027 general election, where, if cleared, he will contest with the incumbent, President William Ruto, former Chief Justice David Maraga, and other candidates from the opposition for the nation’s presidency who have so far declared their interest for the top seat.

Salasya popularising bid

”The dream chaser, the only youthful presidential aspirant to have traversed the entire country in popularising his presidential bid, will be back stronger than ever before. Mazee, I’m the only option that will transform this country. I will make Kenya great again after Kibaki with policies that will make Kenya realise its potential,” Salasya took to X on Sunday, October 26, 2025.

The first-time lawmaker has also vowed to dedicate his service to the people if he ascends to power in 2027.

“After stepping here at the tomb of King Emperor Prophet HAILE SELLASE, I feel powered, energised, and ready to serve humanity. One lesson here is if you dedicate yourself to serving humanity, no one can erase your name in history the way we can’t erase Kibaki in our hearts. Kibaki ruled only for 10 years, but his record is clear,” the youthful lawmaker further wrote.

Best suitable for leadership

Meanwhile, Salasya has dismissed talks of Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna and Embakasi East MP Babu Owino having higher chances of taking over the leadership of the country, saying that he is the most suitable. He added that the two youthful leaders have no development track record to show.

“I am the one supposed to be the team leader of that team because I am the only leader who has been able to traverse the whole country; my politics is about going to the ground, not politicking on social media.”

“Sifuna needs to come and work together with me because I am developmentally orientated; he should join my team and help popularise my bid,” Salasya said in a video posted on his social media pages on Thursday, October 23, 2025.
