IEBC set to launch 2022 pre-election disputes resolution report
The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) is set to launch the Pre-Election Disputes Resolution Report for the 2022 General Election alongside the Case Digest for the 2022 General Election on Thursday, July 9, 2026.
Taking it to their X handles on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, the IEBC has noted that the event scheduled on Thursday, July 9, 2026, and which will be held under the theme “Path to the Polls: Electoral Integrity Through Justice and Dispute Resolution”, is expected to bring together electoral stakeholders, members of the judiciary, political parties, civil society organisations, election observers, legal practitioners and development partners to reflect on lessons from the 2022 general election.
“To the launch of the pre-election disputes resolution report for the 2022 general election & case digest for the 2022 general election. Date: Thursday, July 9, 2026 Theme: Path to the Polls: Electoral Integrity Through Justice and Dispute Resolution,” IEBC stated.

The two publications document the handling of disputes that arose before the 2022 General Election, including conflicts related to voter registration, party nominations, candidate clearance and other electoral processes that fell within the Commission’s mandate. The reports also compile key decisions made by the Commission’s Dispute Resolution Committee, providing a reference point for future electoral dispute resolution.
According to the commission, the launch is part of ongoing efforts to institutionalise lessons learned from previous elections and improve the management of electoral disputes ahead of the 2027 general election.
Content of the report
The Pre-Election Disputes Resolution Report is expected to highlight trends, challenges and best practices observed during the resolution of disputes before the 2022 polls, while the Case Digest will provide a compilation of landmark decisions that shaped the electoral process and interpretation of electoral laws.
The launch comes as the IEBC continues preparations for the next electoral cycle, including voter registration, stakeholder engagement and reforms aimed at improving transparency, accountability and public confidence in Kenya’s electoral system.
