The son of former Malava MP Ryan Injendi, who unsuccessfully contested in the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party primaries, escorted David Ndakwa to present his papers to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) for clearance to contest in the by-elections slated for November 27.

Ndakwa defeated Injendi in the UDA nomination.

This occurred on Thursday, October 9, 2025, when Ryan Injendi joined other top Kenya Kwanza leaders who stormed the constituency to escort UDA’s candidate to present his particulars to the IEBC offices for clearance.

The bandwagon was led by President William Ruto’s aide Farouk Kibet, Bungoma Governor Ken Lusaka, UDA Secretary General Hassan Omar, Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa, Bungoma Senator Wafula Wakoli, and other parliamentarians allied to the UDA party.

Ryan, who after losing in the party primaries vowed to stay in the party despite having issues with a section of top leaders within the party, appeared in his usual happy mood as he escorted his former opponent to the electoral commission offices to have him cleared to vie for the Malava seat, which was left vacant following the demise of Malulu Injendi.

Days after losing in the party primaries, he agreed to support David Ndakwa and pledged to offer him his support until he wins the seat.

In a ceremony held in the constituency, which was aimed to serve as a thanksgiving event to Malava locals for the support they had offered him for the short period and which was graced by President William Ruto’s aide Farouk Kibet, he was promised a slot in President Ruto’s government.

Seth Panyako

This also comes a day after his worthy opponent and Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K) candidate Seth Panyako was escorted by his party’s leader Eugene Wamalwa together with Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale to the same IEBC offices for clearance.

Boni Khalwale expressed confidence in their candidate Seth Panyako, saying that he stands a higher chance to win since, in the 2022 General Election, he was only defeated by 2,000 votes by Malulu Injendi, saying that this time it is his turn to win.

Eugene Wamalwa also heaped praises on him, saying that there was a plot by the government to bribe him so as to ditch the race, but he refused.

David Ndakwa is now set to face Seth Panyako and Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) candidate Edgar Busiega in the November 27 mini-polls.
