President William Ruto is set for a five-day tour of Mt Kenya region beginning this weekend.

In a tight schedule seen by People Daily Digital, the Head of State will begin his tour on Saturday morning with a road trip from Nairobi, marked by stop-overs in Githurai within Kiambu County, Maragwa (Murang’a), Kiharu (Murang’a), Kagio town (Murang’a) and Mathira (Nyeri).

In Githurai, the President is expected to commission the Githurai water supply project and Githurai market before stopping at Kenol and Kiharu for an engagement with locals.

The President’s convoy will then head to Kagio Trading Centre where he is set to open a water project before addressing locals at Baricho in Kirinyaga County.

In Karatina, the President will commission the Marua-State Lodge Road. The project is expected to ease the movement of goods and services and spur growth in the area.

On Sunday, the Head of State will be at the State Lodge Sagana for an interdenominational prayer service.

On Monday, the President will start his day in Mukurweini where is scheduled to commission a road.

This event will be succeeded by the launch of water projects in Tetu and Othaya constituencies.

Later on Monday afternoon, the President will be at Nyeri town where he is expected to open a bus park to ease traffic congestion and improve transportation in the busy town.

In the evening, the President will return to the State Lodge where he is scheduled to host Mt Kenya governors for dinner.

On Tuesday, he will open a new Kenya Co-operative Creameries facility in Kiganjo.

Thereafter, he will host Mt Kenya leaders at the Sagana State Lodge.

According to a communiqué from the President’s communication unit, Agriculture, infrastructure, health, education, among other sectors, will dominate the meeting that will bring together governors, MPs, MCAs, among others.

The President will complete his tour of the central region with the opening of the three-storeyed, 175-bed capacity Naromoru Level IV Hospital.

He will later launch an affordable housing project in Gichugu before landing in Thika where he will commission the Karimenu Dam Water Supply Project and also launch affordable housing project.

This is one of the President’s major tours of the Mt Kenya region since his election in August last year.

The visit is seen as an attempt by the President to appease the region amid concerns about the slow implementation of his campaign promises to the region and the country at large.
