Ruto receives briefing on bottom-up agenda’s contribution to Vision 2030
President William Ruto has received a thought-leadership presentation on how the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA) contributes to Vision 2030 and its role in accelerating Kenya’s economic transition over the next five years.
In a statement posted on his X account on Friday, January 16, 2026, Ruto said the briefing at State House Nairobi, provided valuable insights into policy alignment, economic inclusion, and strategic reforms needed to sustain Kenya’s growth beyond 2030.
“At State House Nairobi, received a thought-leadership presentation on the contribution of the Bottom Up Economic Transformation Agenda to Vision 2030, and its role in accelerating delivery over the next five years as Kenya advances its economic transition,” Ruto said.

Long-term development vision
According to the President, the discussions centred on shaping a coherent long-term development vision for Kenya, noting that it provided crucial insights into the policy direction and economic reforms required to maintain Kenya’s growth trajectory and competitiveness in the years ahead.
“The discussions provided valuable insights into policy alignment, economic inclusion, and the strategic reforms required to sustain Kenya’s growth and competitiveness beyond 2030, in alignment with our nation’s journey toward first-world economic status,” Ruto stated.
The presentation was led by Kisumu County Governor Prof. Anyang’ Nyong’o, alongside prominent academics and policy experts, including Prof. Karuti Kanyinga, Prof. Oduor Wanyande, Prof. Michael Chege, Mr Denis Onyango, and Mr George Omondi, together with members of the President’s Council of Economic Advisors.

Ruto said the team would continue engaging with his administration to help shape a coherent and forward-looking development vision for the country.
“The team, led by Kisumu County Governor Prof Anyang’ Nyong’o, Prof Karuti Kanyinga, Prof Oduor Wanyande, Prof Michael Chege, Mr Denis Onyango, and Mr George Omondi, together with members of the President’s Council of Economic Advisors, will continue to engage and shape a coherent long-term development vision for Kenya,” he said.
