President William Ruto has picked two former ODM members of parliament to head two government boards in his latest appointments.
Ruto appointed Timothy Bosire who is the National Treasurer for ODM and former Kitutu-Masaba MP to head the board of the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA), effectively terminating the tenure of Manoj Shah who previously held the position.
In a move widely seen to be furthering the agenda of the inclusive broad-based government, Ruto poached the ODM treasurer to serve NTSA for three years.
“I, William Samoei Ruto, President of the Republic of Kenya and Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Forces, appoint— Timothy Bosire to be the non-executive Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the National Transport and Safety Authority, for a period of three (3) years, with effect from the 17th January, 2025,” the appointment notice read
Former Wajir MP Kolosh
In the gazette notice, Ruto also appointed former ODM Wajir West MP Ahmed Kolosh to be the non-executive chairperson of the Kenya Maritime Authority (KMA) for a period of three years.
“In exercise of the powers conferred by section 6 (a) of the Kenya Maritime Authority Act, as read together with section 51 (1) of the Interpretation and General Provisions Act, I, William Samoei Ruto, President of the Republic of Kenya and Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Forces, appoints Ahmed Kolosh Mohamed to be the non-executive Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Kenya Maritime Authority, for a period of three (3) years, with effect from 17th January, 2025. The appointment of *Hamisi Mwaguya is hereby revoked,” the notice read.
Before his appointment to the maritime authority board, Kolosh was the non-executive board chairman of the Kenya Roads Board (KRB)- a position now held by former Gender Cabinet Secretary Aisha Jumwa.
Hamisi Mwaguya who previously served as the non-executive board chairperson of KMA has been moved to chair the board of Business Registration Service for a period of three years.
