Ruto orders recruitment of 50 Akorino teachers nationwide
President William Ruto has announced plans to expand employment opportunities for members of the Akorino community, directing the recruitment of additional teachers and promising greater inclusion in government.
Speaking during the Akorino Israeli thanksgiving event held at State House Nairobi on Sunday, April 12, 2026, Ruto praised the community for its discipline and contribution to national development while also acknowledging the need to ensure fair representation in public service.

The president noted that previous recruitment of Akorino teachers had yielded positive results, prompting the government to consider increasing the number of opportunities available to the community across the country.
He went on to assure the congregants that the government would move with speed to integrate more members of the Akorino faith into public service, emphasising respect for religious identity and equal opportunity in employment.
“Munipatie wiki tatu nitawapanga ndani ya serikali ya Kenya. Musinsadie tufanye kazi pamoja. Kilemba ile mko nayo ni mavazi kulingana na dini yenu; mnafaa kuheshimiwa kwa hio. Vile nilitoa nafasi kwa watu watoto Wakorino waajiriwe kuwa walimu, walifanya kazi mzuri sana, kwa hivyo naongeza watoto wa Akorino 50 tuweze kuwaajiri kuwa walimu. Mgawe vizuri kutoka sehemu zote ya Kenya ili waweze kuanza kufanya kazi kwa uzuri,” Ruto said.

Ruto further directed that the recruitment process should reflect national diversity, ensuring that beneficiaries are drawn from different parts of the country to promote unity and equal access to opportunities.
He also reiterated the importance of respecting cultural and religious expressions, noting that such diversity strengthens the country’s social fabric and should be protected at all levels of governance.
Ruto said the move to recruit more Akorino teachers will not only boost employment but also strengthen trust between the government and the Akorino community, that have often called for recognition and inclusion in national programs.
