Ruto: Ng’eno will be remembered as focused, vocal and fearless leader
By Kiplagat Sang, February 28, 2026President William Ruto has described the late Member of Parliament (MP) for Emurua Dikirr Johana Ng’eno in glowing terms.
Ng’eno, a third-time lawmaker for the constituency within Narok County, died in a helicopter crash on Saturday, February 28, 2026.
The Head of State has also described the MP as his friend and said he will be remembered for who he was.
‘Profound shock’
“I have received with profound shock and deep sadness the news this evening of the passing of Emurua Dikirr Member of Parliament, Mheshimiwa Johana Ng’eno,” Ruto said in a social media post.
“My friend, Mheshimiwa Ng’eno, was a progressive and devoted servant of the people who worked tirelessly on behalf of the residents of Emurua Dikirr, Narok County,” he added.
Focused and fearless
Ng’eno was a profound defender of the rights of the people, especially the residents found in South Rift, something that Ruto has acknowledged.
“He was focused, vocal, and fearless; a leader who stood firmly for justice and equity for all,” the president said.
“He will be remembered for the tangible progress achieved under his leadership and his exemplary commitment to promoting local talent, especially in music.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, his friends, the people of Emurua Dikirr, and all the victims and families affected by the helicopter crash in Mosop, Nandi County.”

Mudavadi mourns Ng’eno
The Prime Cabinet Secretary, Musalia Mudavadi, has also shared his message of condolence.
“Deeply saddened to learn of the tragic passing of Emurua Dikirr Member of Parliament, Hon. Kipyegon Johana Ng’eno, following a helicopter crash in the Chepkiep area of Mosop Sub-County, Nandi County,” the Foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary said.
“Hon. Ng’eno was a distinguished and courageous legislator who stood firmly for the rights and aspirations of his constituents. He served with conviction, dedication and integrity, and above all, was a devoted family man.
“My heartfelt condolences go out to his family, the people of Emurua Dikir, and to the families of the five others who were on board during this tragic incident. May they find strength and comfort during this profoundly difficult time,” he added.
“May Hon. Ng’eno’s legacy of service endure, and may his soul rest in eternal peace.”
