Ruto hosts Murang’a political leaders days after concluding Mt Kenya tour

President William Ruto on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, hosted a section of political leaders from Murang’a County at State House, Nairobi.

The head of state, in a statement shared via his official social media accounts, said that he was encouraged by the commitment of the said political leaders to work together with him to deliver on his administration’s development plan.

Ruto, during the meeting, committed to working with them in implementing priority projects that he said would uplift livelihoods in the county.

Leaders in Ruto’s meeting

The meeting was attended by Murang’a Woman Representative Betty Maina, nominated MP Sabina Chege, Kangema MP Peter Kihungi, his Mathioya counterpart Edwin Mugo and Maragua’s Mary Wamaua.

“I am encouraged by the commitment of political leaders from Murang’a County to work together to deliver on our development plan. I commit to working with them in implementing priority projects that will uplift livelihoods in the county. Had fruitful consultations with leaders from the county, including Hon. Betty N. Maina (Woman Rep), Hon. Sabina Chege (Nominated MP), Hon. Peter Kihungi (Kangema), Hon. Edwin Mugo (Mathioya) and Hon. Mary Wamaua (Maragua), State House, Nairobi,” Ruto stated.

Ruto’s Mt Kenya tour

The meeting comes days after President Ruto and his deputy Kithure Kindiki concluded a five-day development tour of the Mt Kenya region with a strong commitment to ensure the timely completion of ongoing projects.

The two leaders traversed all nine counties in the region, inspecting multi-billion-shilling infrastructure projects and launching several new initiatives expected to be completed within the next year.

On the final day of the tour, Saturday, April 5, 2025, the President led an extensive inspection of key projects in Nyeri Town and Othaya in Nyeri County, as well as Githunguri and Lari constituencies in Kiambu County.

Throughout the tour, the President and Deputy President visited Laikipia, Nyeri, Murang’a, Tharaka Nithi, Meru, Kiambu, Nyandarua, Embu, and Kirinyaga counties, reaffirming their dedication to inclusive development and addressing large crowds of enthusiastic residents.

The administration’s agenda for the region includes the completion of stalled road projects, acceleration of affordable housing, construction of modern markets to support small traders, better returns for coffee, tea, miraa, and dairy farmers, improved water supply, and expanded last-mile electricity connections.
