Ruto, Gachagua donate Ksh3M to Shinyalu church

President William Ruto and his deputy Rigathi Gachagua on Sunday, September 24 donated a total of Ksh3 million towards the construction of a church in Shinyalu, Kakamega County.

President Ruto donated Ksh2 million while his deputy contributed Ksh1 million during the fundraiser hosted by Shinyalu MP Fred Ikane at the Shikulu Primary School.

The two Kenya Kwanza leaders were represented at the function by Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi and National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula.

The Head of State is in New York where he recently attended the United Nations General Assembly. He is scheduled to jet into the country tomorrow.

Mudavadi and Wetang’ula contributed Ksh1 million each towards the construction of the church.

At the same time, Trade Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria contributed Ksh700,000 while his counterparts Kipchumba Murkomen (Roads and Transport) Ababu Namwamba (Youth Affairs, Arts and Sports) and Susan Nakhumicha (Health) donated Ksh500,000, Ksh200,000 and Ksh100,000 respectively.

National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah and his Senate counterpart Aaron Cheruiyot gave Ksh500,000 each while Bungoma Governor Kenneth Lusaka, National Assembly Majority Party Whip Silvanus Osoro and Ikana contributed Ksh200,000 each.

Osoro confirmed on Sunday evening that a total of ksh10 million was raised during the event.

“Asanteni Shinyalu, Kakamega County. Over Ksh10M raised for the church’s construction as per the direction of HAGGAI 1:8,” Osoro wrote in a Facebook post.

He added: “The team now retreats to plan for a major one in Gusii soonest.”
