The Head of State, accompanied by First Lady Rachel Ruto, was received in Evian, France, ahead of the high-level international engagement, according to a statement shared via X by State House Director of Communications Gerald Bitok on Tuesday, June 16, 2026.
“H.E. President William Ruto and First Lady @MamaRachelRuto arrive in Evian, France, ahead of the G7 Summit,” Bitok captioned Ruto’s arrival photos on X.
Strategic diplomatic mission
President Ruto departed Kenya on the evening of Monday, June 15, 2026, marking the start of a series of diplomatic engagements that will culminate in his participation at the G7 Summit.
According to State House Spokesperson Hussein Mohamed, the visit is part of Kenya’s broader strategy to deepen international partnerships and expand economic cooperation with leading global economies.
The President is expected to use the platform to advocate for Africa’s development agenda, with a focus on trade, investment flows, debt sustainability, climate finance, and digital transformation.

Africa’s voice at the global table
Kenya has increasingly positioned itself as a key voice for Africa in global economic discussions, and Ruto’s participation at the G7 Summit is expected to reinforce that role.
