President William Ruto now says all attendees in Monday’s Jamhuri Day celebrations will be walking away with goodies.

Speaking at Jamhuri Tech and Innovation Summit in KICC, Nairobi on Sunday, December 11, the Head of State said everyone will go home with a 16-unit course fully paid by the Thunderbird School of Global Management at Arizona State University.

This, he says is in line with his efforts to close job gaps in the tech sector as the course will equip Kenyans with the necessary digital skills to become competitive in the industry.

“Tomorrow, every citizen who will come to Nyayo stadium will go back with a 16-unit course paid for by the Arizona State University. You’d otherwise pay 100 dollars for that. Also, there are no entry requirements as long as you know how to read English,” he said.

Meanwhile, Ruto had earlier communicated that the upcoming holiday will be themed “Innovation Jamhuri Day” and will be graced by tech gurus from across the world to reflect the theme.

While speaking at the official opening of the 2022 Kenya Innovation Week, at Sarit Expo Centre in Nairobi, the Head of State said this will offer a platform for Kenyans to brainstorm with technology leaders from Facebook and from Google for partnerships.

“I deliberately decided that this year’s Jamhuri Day is going to be profiled properly and themed as the innovation Jamhuri Day,” he said.

“I have instead of inviting the usual people we invite, I have decided to invite our technology leaders worldwide from Facebook and from Google so that we can share opportunities as the world is slowly becoming digital,” he added.
