Detectives across the Coast region are trying to piece together evidence relating to the missing 47 bodies believed to have been removed from a funeral home Kilifi County.

Police reports indicate that homicide detectives are seeking to establish the whereabouts of bodies that are believed to have been preserved at Milele Funeral Home associated with controversial preacher Ezekiel Odero.

The bodies are believed to have been recovered from the New Life Prayer Centre run by the preacher.

Detectives are said to be pursuing leads that the bodies could have been taken from the mortuary and buried in one mass grave.

“The bodies were removed from Milele Funeral Home in January this year. Homicide detectives are now carrying out investigations to establish where they were disposed off,” said a homicide officer on condition of anonymity.

A truck is believed to have been used to ferry the bodies to the mass grave which is yet to be located.
Sources said efforts to identify and trace the driver of the truck used to ferry the bodies have not yielded any fruits so far.

“Several people have already recorded statements with police, there are several challenges since the bodies were removed purportedly to be preserved elsewhere but investigations have revealed that no mortuary within the coastal region received the bodies,” said the officer.

Coast Regional Coordinator Rhoda Onyancha says detectives have now discovered 40 new mass graves in the vast Shakahola forest as phase four of the exhumation exercise resumed yesterday.

She added that the graves are suspected to be containing multiple bodies.
