President Yoweri Museveni speaks about DP Ruto’s aborted journey to Uganda

Uganda does not have any interest in Kenyan politics.

This is according to Uganda’s President Yoweri Museveni who on Wednesday afternoon issued a statement on Deputy President William Ruto’s saga at Wilson Airport as he headed to Uganda.

Through the office of Uganda’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Henry Okello who held a press conference at the Uganda Media Centre based in Kampala- Museveni said that he was not ready to mingle in Kenya’s Internal affairs.

In his statement, the move to bar DP Ruto from leaving Kenya to Uganda was purely a Kenya affair.

“Uganda is not aware of the reasons why Kenya decided to delay and finally cancel Ruto’s flight on Monday, August 2. That is a matter that Kenya can answer,” he said.

Okello said that DP Ruto did not at any time contact Uganda seeking to be handed at services through the Ministry.

The Minister also said that at no point did Ruto through the Kenyan High Commission reach out informing them of Ruto’s plans to visit Uganda.

On Wednesday morning, DP Ruto said that he was not heading to Uganda for official duty and he was on private business.

Ruto said that he failed to understand why there was a problem if he was heading to Uganda on personal business.

On Monday, August 2- Ruto and five others who included; Aydin Harun, 55, a Turkish national, Maps Ndindi Nyoro (Kiharu), Oscar Sudi (Kapsaret), Benjamin Tayari (Kinango), businessman David Lang’ata, Elijah Rono and Eric Ruto when the saga happened.

In a rejoinder on Wednesday afternoon, Interior PS Karanja Kibicho said that DP Ruto was barred from leaving the country since he did not have some documents.

DP Ruto has been visiting Uganda and even campaigned for President Museveni during the country’s General Elections
