President Ruto returns to Nyanza for projects launch

President William Ruto returns to Nyanza region today to launch several development projects only weeks after forming a broad based government incorporating leaders from the region.

Ruto, who last visited the region in April this year during the burial of the late Chief of Defence Forces Gen. Francis Ogolla will kick off his tour of the region in Kuria East constituency, Migori county this afternoon.

Yesterday, the Nyanza Regional security team led by Florence Mworoa visited the various projects the president is expected to tour and launch during his four day visit in the counties of Migori, Homa Bay, Siaya and Kisumu.

In the company of area MP Maisori Kitayama, the leaders inspected Kegonga Cluster Water Project in Kuria East constituency which the president is scheduled to launch today.

The security team also visited Lower Kuja Irrigation project in Nyatike constituency which will also be launched by the president. Here, they were received by area MP Tom Odege.

The President will also launch the Ngere-Mapera Road in Suna East Constituency represented by Minority leader in the National Assembly, Junet Mohammed. On Thursday, President Ruto is scheduled to commission the Oyugis Water Project in Homabay county. He will then head to Homa Bay town to commission the local Fish Market before going to Rusinga Island to launch the Ring Road. Thereafter, he will attend the thanksgiving service in honour of newly appointed National Treasury Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi at Magunga in Suba South constituency.

Commission plants

On Friday, President will be in Siaya county to commission Mageta Island Solar PV Mini Grid and then launch the Siaya market and the Siaya Rice Mill and finally grace Energy Cabinet Secretary Opiyo Wandayi’s thanksgiving service.

Come Saturday, the president will move to Kisumu county where he will commission the Marine Training School for seafarers, coxswains and maritime students and then drive to Kibos Rice Mill, constructed by the Lake Basin Development Authority (LBDA). He will then inspect the Lumumba hospital and finally launch the Nyabondo Trauma Centre.

Yesterday, Interior Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo asked Nyanza residents to turn up in large numbers to give the Head of State an arousing welcome. “We want you to accord him a warm reception with respect, humility and hospitality because he is a good man and means well for the community,” said the PS.

He spoke as various leaders in Nyanza led by the governors Ochillo Ayacko (Migori), Gladys Wanga (Homabay), James Orengo (Siaya) and Anyang Nyong’o (Kisumu), mobilized residents to welcome the head of State.
