President neither convened nor postponed State House meeting for Mt Kenya leaders – Spokesperson Kanze Dena

State House Spokesperson Kanze Dena has denied reports that President Uhuru Kenyatta invited leaders from Central Kenya for a meeting at State House.
Kanze said the reports are misleading and should be ignored.
“The President did not convene nor postpone any such meeting. Therefore, the information is false and misleading,” she said in a statement to the newsroom.
Kanze further said that Uhuru’s diary was full for the whole week, but there was no such scheduled meeting.
“His Excellency President Kenyatta’s diary for the remainder of the week and the weekend ahead has several public engagements of which Kenyans will be duly informed through established platforms,” she added.
In a viral message whose recept had been independently acknowledged by some of the Mt Kenya region leaders, President Uhuru purportedly invited all Governors, MPs and Senators irrespective of their political affiliations to a meeting purportedly scheduled for Friday, March 18 mid-morning.
“Good evening Mheshimiwa, I wish to invite you for a meeting of all MPs, Senators and Governors from the Mt Kenya region at State House Nairobi on Friday, 18th March 2022 from 10 am. Kindly confirm your attendance now,” the text message read.
“I received a text this morning that invites me to the State House. The text is worded noting that it invites elected leaders from the Mt Kenya region from Senators to Members of Parliament,” the recently ousted Majority Whip in the Senate Kimani Wamatangi had said.
Another message came later saying the meeting had been postponed.
“After wide consultations, I have deferred the meeting that was scheduled for tomorrow, Friday 18th March 2022, at Statehouse Nairobi, with MPs, Senators and Governors, from the Mt Kenya region to a later date, which will be communicated to you, in due course,” the message read in part.
