Poor home run troubles Nzoia Sugar coach Omondi

Nzoia Sugar’s poor home record in the Kenyan Premier League has left coach Collins Omondi worried after just four matches played.
The club sit 13th on the 18-team table with four points from as many games after losing 2-0 to champions Gor Mahia in Mumias on Wednesday and Omondi feels his players are underperforming due to the pressure from home supporters.
“Every week in any of our training sessions, we always emphasise the need to play well whether at home or away.
It’s disappointing to lose against Gor Mahia at home and we need to improve offensively and defensively,” he said after Wednesday’s match.
“In the first half, we showed them a lot of discipline and took time to settle but we were punished for not defending well through rebounds.
We should also try to be clinical in the final third. Committing simple mistakes like the ones against Gor Mahia will expose you and you will get punished.”
“We lost against Sony and today against Gor Mahia in similar circumstances so we need to get from our comfort zone and fight for the team,” said Omondi.
Omondi has, however, called on the club’s fans to remain patient with the team as they look to tighten the lose ends.
“We lost a good number of our first-team stars to other teams and recruited young players who are still gelling,” he said, promising to produce encouraging results and assist the team finish the season in a better position.
