Police recover firearm, nab 2 men in Embakasi raid

Officers from the National Police Service (NPS) have recovered a firearm and apprehended two persons of interest in Embakasi, Nairobi County, following an intelligence-led operation on Monday morning, September 1, 2025.

According to a statement by the NPS, officers on routine patrol in the Pipeline area received information about two individuals suspected of having a firearm. Acting swiftly, the patrol team traced the suspects to Munche Building, where they searched the sixth floor.

During the operation, police recovered a Powerline Airstrike pistol hidden inside a carton box. The two were found in the room were immediately arrested and taken into custody for interrogation and further investigation.

”Today, 1 September 2025, National Police Service (NPS) officers on night patrol in the Pipeline area received intelligence regarding two individuals in possession of a suspected firearm. The team proceeded to Munche Building on the 6th floor. Upon entering a room occupied by the suspects, a search was conducted. This led to the recovery of a Powerline Airstrike pistol concealed inside a carton box,” NPS said in a statement.

In another crime-related incident, officers from Rweno Police Station in Kiambaa Sub-County conducted an operation in the Gacharage area on the evening of Saturday, August 30, 2025. During the operation, a 29-year-old man was nabbed for possession of 60 rolls of cannabis.

The narcotics were confiscated as evidence, and the suspect remains in custody pending his arraignment in court. The operation is part of the National Police Service’s ongoing efforts to combat the sale and distribution of dangerous drugs within the county.

On Saturday, August 30, 2025, officers from the Likoni Sub-County headquarters, acting on a tip-off from members of the public regarding a notorious drug peddler, conducted an operation in the Tonge Nyama area. During the raid, the authorities nabbed one man and recovered two hundred and eighty-four (284) large rolls of cannabis sativa, which had been stashed in a sack inside his house. The suspect person in question was taken to police custody, awaiting his arraignment in court on Monday, September 1, 2025.

Meanwhile, the National Police Service (NPS) has urged members of the public to keep providing information in relation to curbing drug trafficking and the fight against crime.
