Cops from the Archers Police Post in Samburu, Isiolo County, successfully recovered 18 heads of cattle which were stolen in Meru County.

According to the National Police Service (NPS), a special team from the Archers Police Post made the recovery on March 15, 2024, at 3:00 am in Sero Longai Village in Samburu East.

During the recovery, there was a gunfight which resulted in damage to the radiator of police lorry registration number GKB 408U by suspected Morans.

“Special operations team based at Archers Police Post while conducting their routine operation on March 15, 2024, at Sero Longai Village, Samburu East at around 0300hrs recovered 18 heads of cattle previously stolen in Meru County.

“During the recovery, a fierce exchange ensued between the security team and in the process, the suspected morans damaged the radiator of Police lorry Reg. GKB 408U,” the statement by Police revealed.

Police recover items

The Police confirmed that they recovered an AK-47 rifle loaded with 23 rounds of ammunition as well as three Tecno mobile phones.

The animals were returned to their owners, while the mobile phones were handed over to the Directorate of Criminal Investigation officers for further investigations.

“The security team managed to recover an AK-47 rifle loaded with 23 rounds of ammunition and three TECNO mobile phones from the morans.

“The recovered animals were handed over to their owners while the mobile phones were handed over to DCI for further investigations,” the police concluded.
