Police have arrested a man suspected to have killed his friend and dismembered his body into two in Chemamul village, Ololunga in Narok South on Saturday.

By yesterday, only the lower part of the body –which was positively identified by the relatives -had been found dumped about 200 metres from the suspect’s house.

According to the deceased’s mother, the son Philemon Kirui Mutai aged 27 went missing on Thursday last week and they later went to his friend’s house where they found some blood stains spattered on the door frame, window, and the walls.

They became suspicious and arrested the suspect, Shadrack Chelule, and upon further search, they recovered a blood-stained panga and wooden stick.

They then escorted him to Nkoben police post and detectives from Narok South Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) visited the scene and conducted a further search.

“A lower part of the body was discovered about 200 metres from the suspect’s house, stashed in a nylon sack. The upper part of the body is still missing,” the DCI said.

The deceased’s mother Lily Mutai said the two friends were staying together in the village. The motive of the brutal murder was not immediately established.

The body was moved to Narok Referral Hospital for preservation awaiting autopsy.
