Police nab 6 linked to 1,000 rolls of bhang in Machakos
Police officers from Mlolongo Police Station have apprehended six people linked to one thousand rolls of bhang in a crackdown in Machakos County.
In a statement by the National Police Service on Thursday, February 19, 2026, the officers confirmed that the six were nabbed following a targeted operation within Mlolongo Township and its environs.
Among the environs were Kathangaita, Kasina, and the Masaku area.
“Officers from Mlolongo Police Station in Machakos County today conducted a targeted operation within Mlolongo Township and its environs, including Kathangaita, Kasina, and the Masaku area, as part of ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking and substance abuse in the region,” NPS stated.
As part of ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking and substance abuse in the region, the officers confirmed that the six persons of interest are aged between 20 and 25 years
“During the operation, six suspects, aged between 20 and 25 years, were arrested and found in possession of more than 1,000 rolls of bhang,” police stated.
According to the police report, the officers recovered bhang processed in other forms, including consumables such as cannabis-infused biscuits and sweets.
“In addition to the rolls, officers recovered bhang processed in other forms, including consumables such as cannabis-infused biscuits and sweets, indicating a deliberate attempt to package and distribute the illegal substance in ways that could easily target and endanger unsuspecting members of the public, particularly young people,” NPS added.
The seized narcotics have been secured as exhibits, and the suspects are currently in lawful custody pending arraignment.

Tana River incident
The Machakos incident came just days after Police Officers confirmed the recovery of 672 rolls of bhang during a targeted operation in Madogo Town, Tana River County.
In a statement posted on its X account on Friday, February 13, 2026, NPS stated that the operation was conducted by officers from Madogo Police Station who raided Adele Estate within Madogo Town as part of a wider strategy to dismantle drug distribution networks.
According to NPS, police also seized 700 grams of cannabis sativa seeds and 1.73 kilograms of unprocessed cannabis sativa during the crackdown.
“Officers from Madogo Police Station conducted a targeted operation at Adele Estate within Madogo Town, Tana River County, as part of sustained efforts by the National Police Service to dismantle drug distribution networks across the country,” the NPS statement reads.
