Police nab 4 men linked to a series of robberies in Busia

Police officers from Busia Police Station have nabbed four men linked to robbery with violence, recovering a stolen motorcycle.

In a statement by the National Police Service on Saturday, March 28, 2026, the officers confirmed that the four were among seven gang members who robbed a motorcycle rider.

According to the officers, the incident occurred on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at the Sinduru Bridge in Busia County.

“Police officers from Busia Police Station arrested four suspects and recovered a stolen motorcycle following a robbery incident that occurred today, 28th March 2026, at Sinduru Bridge,” NPS said.

NPS further confirmed that the victim was riding a motorcycle with a pillion passenger when they were intercepted by a gang of seven individuals armed with pangas, clubs, and metal rods, who robbed them of the motorcycle.

Following an immediate alarm raised by the victims, members of the public responded swiftly and pursued the assailants. The pursuit resulted in the apprehension of four persons of interest and the successful recovery of the stolen motorcycle.

According to the officers, upon arrest, the four individuals were placed in custody at Busia Police Station, and the motorcycle was secured as an exhibit pending further police processing.

Officers are also pursuing the remaining three persons of interest, who fled the scene.

On the other hand, the National Police Service has applauded members of the public for their support, which led to the recovery of property and the arrest of the four persons of interest.

South B robbery

Meanwhile, the Busia incident came a day after police officers from Nairobi’s South B area nabbed two men linked to robbery with violence, recovering one motorcycle and several stolen mobile phones.

In a statement on X on Thursday, March 26, 2026, the National Police Service (NPS) confirmed that the two were busted while in the act of trying to take off with stolen cellphones.

“Police officers in Nairobi’s South B area have arrested two suspects in connection with a robbery with violence and have recovered a motorcycle and several stolen mobile phones,” NPS said.

According to the officers, the two were nabbed near the Mater Hospital Bridge after trying to steal from a member of the public before attempting to flee the scene.

According to the officer, following a distress call, officers on patrol responded swiftly, pursued the persons of interest, and successfully apprehended them.

At the scene, the officers recovered three mobile phones, including the stolen device, as well as the motorcycle believed to have been used in the commission of the crime.
